Maine Beer & Beverage Co. is a specialty beverage retail shop that is actually a whole lot more. First and foremost, Maine Beer & Beverage Co. stocks a wide and varied selection of affordable wines, craft-brewed beer from Maine and away and domestic beer, and soda, water, juice, dairy, iced coffee and energy drinks. Serving a diverse customer base of Monument Square workers, neighborhood residents and tourists, Maine Beer & Beverage Co. also has a large selection of groceries, snacks, chips, kettle corn, granola, nuts, ice cream, tobacco, ice, bulk coffee and tea, supplies, sundry items and a wide variety of Maine-made sauces and salsa. Virtually anything you need for a party, outing or entertaining can be procured at Maine Beer & Beverage Co.

Maine Beer & Beverage Co. was founded in 1998 by two attorneys, Andrew Braceras and William Milliken, whose love for Maine beer and the New England Patriots brought them together to establish a retail store as an original vendor in the now-defunct Portland Public Market. The partners opened a store on Portland's waterfront in 2001 that also included liquor, which still exists as Downeast Beverage. In 2006, faced with closing or finding a new space when the Portland Public Market closed down, the business jumped with several other market vendors to 28 Monument Square and formed the Public Market House. The rest is history.
